The Importance of Goal 3

What is Goal 3?

Goal 3, established by the United Nations, aims to ensure health and well-being for all people at all stages of life. The goal is to improve reproductive, maternal, and child health, to end HIV/AIDS, malaria, tuberculosis, and neglected tropical diseases epidemics, to reduce noncommunicable and environmental diseases, to achieve universal health coverage, and to ensure universal access to safe, affordable, and effective medicines and vaccines. To that purpose, world leaders agreed to funding research and development, increasing health spending, and strengthening all countries' capabilities to reduce and manage health risks.

The number of childhood deaths has been cut in half during the last 15 years. This demonstrates that it is feasible to defeat practically any sickness. Nonetheless, we waste a staggering amount of money and energy addressing illnesses that are surprisingly simple to avoid. The new global Good Health aim supports healthy lives, preventive measures, and contemporary, efficient healthcare for everybody.

Anyone can contribute to achieving the Global Goals. Use these thirteen goals to inspire action to achieve overall health and well-being.
